The monsters underneath my bed

When I was a child I used to dream of monsters underneath my bed. I dreamed about evil, scary, green monsters who were chasing me. They would be so close to me that I could smell their stinky breath and feel the panic and I would often wake up screaming and soaked in sweat.

The dreams kept coming back and at some point my mom took affair and provided me with a plan. She told me:

Nadia, you don’t need to be scared of the monsters. The monsters come to you in your dreams – and in dreams anything is possible. So why don’t you just fly away from them? Just set off from the ground and fly away from them. You don’t need wings – just spread out your arms and let go.”

So the following night when I went to bed I thought about flying. And when the monsters came to me that night I took my mother’s advice, I set off from the ground, spread out my arms and I let go. And off I went, into the clear blue sky, away from the monsters – leaving them as little dots on the ground, unable to harm me.

How I wish I could fly away from the monsters in real life as well. Just spread out my arms and let go.

That was a good motherly advice.
Oh Nadia, why do you have real monsters in your life? I hope they are not very harmful.
